bismark bs-16i is a 16 multi-timbral playback sampler. It loads SoundFont and DLS (Downloadable Sounds) as WaveTable and can be used for keyboard instruments, MIDI sound modules, and MIDI file players.
bs-16i has the synthesizer engine that has been adopted for many professional/commercial types of equipment. Using SoundFont / DLS libraries, you can play with your great number of instruments. With Hi-Res Engine option prepared as an In-App purchase option enables high-quality and low-noise audio outputs by 100% floating-point calculations.
All standard MIDI messages are supported, and your iPhone and iPad can be used as a GM (General MIDI) sound module by using pre-installed GeneralUser GS SoftSynth v1.44.sf2 (S. Christian Collins).
As a keyboard instrument, you can play with the scalable screen keyboard, pitch bend wheel, and many control change controllers.
The internal MIDI file player supports SMF (Standard MIDI File) format as Song.
WaveTable / Song / Scene files are managed in the "bs-16i" folder of your iCloud Drive and synced between all your iOS / iPadOS devices.
Moreover, this application supports Core MIDI interfaces like IK Multimedia iRig KEYS / iRig MIDI, YAMAHA iMX-1, LINE6 MIDI Mobilizer 2, Apple Lightning -USB Camera Adapter with USB Generic MIDI Interface, and Bluetooth accessory (Miselu C.24, QUICCO SOUND mi.1, etc). With them, you can communicate with other external MIDI hardware like a synthesizer, or sequencer. Also, bs-16i can be a background and drive from other apps using Virtual MIDI.
Audiobus 3, and Inter-App Audio are supported. You can send bs-16is output stream to other apps.
AUv3 (AudioUnit v3) extension is included. You can use bs-16i in GarageBand, BeatMaker3, and AUM as plug-in instruments.
- To load the specified SoundFont / DLS file, the device has to ready free memory larger than its file size of it.
- This application collects the following information: Device name, OS version, SoundFont / DLS file name, and CoreMIDi I/F name.
Pros and cons of bismark bs-16i app for iPhone and iPad
bismark bs-16i app good for
I have a lot of powerful MIDI applications on my iPad. But this lesser-known app has some good solid features as well. I love how it supports sound fonts. Even the general midi instruments are pretty decent sounding. So glad that they have added Audiobus support.
I bought this app mainly to play my collection of soundfonts on my iPad, and it works perfectly for this.
This is the best music app with amazing sounds.plus the soundfont feature is great.
Tank You very much for this app. Well done. Soundfonts rule!
BTW, any chance to see AU plugin for Mac version 64 bit ?
Simple and versatile. And it has, in the factory bank, the best electric piano sound on the App Store.
Some bad moments
Dont buy the app. Its not ready for prime time. Purchase some the other midi apps available like Sweet Midi Player, cost more but miles ahead.
I think it is a great app. Only problem Im having is accessing the the other instruments that are available. My pastor ended up buying it and he has all the instruments. Let me know how I can get the rest.
Just downloaded this but cant figure out how to get Soundfonts into it...I need more help than just simply saying "use file sharing functions of iTunes" At least make a quick tutorial so I can get it up and going.......
Good overall playback MIDI tool that uses the popular Soundfont sounds. For the iPhone/iTouch version we need Akai Synthstation 25 support. I just got one and this app would be a good fit for that platform. Some Soundfonts do not play back correctly, especially large ones, need some tweaking here.
Thanks for the update to Core Midi and iPad support. Very nice midi implementation. This app is just what I have been looking for when it came to practice while traveling. I normally play a Hammond Organ and you cant take one of those with you where ever you go. With this app I have found several sound fonts that cover the Hammond better than all the others I have tried. If you are looking for sound fonts you might want to try this site ftp://ftp.lysator.liu.se/pub/awe32/soundfonts/ . It has quite a few good ones. Dont overlook the Gravis Ultrasound soundfont because that has some great patches (well great for what I want / need).
This is my first review. I really enjoy this app!! Thanks and hi Bismark.
I truly appriciate the ability to play soundfonts through ipad. Midi latency is lower ( good) compared to other apps. I do wish there were a few more configurable parameters ( e.g. Would like to assign breath controller to something) but all- in-all a very solid app.
